SUMMARY
The most reliable way of distinguishing this large black species from the common C. pubera is by examination of the male genitalia using the features described by Collin (1958)[1]. The arista is rather less densely and shorter haired than C. pubera and there are 1-2 pairs of fine, but distinct, presutural acrostichals bristles whereas C. pubera usually has no presutural acrostichals bristles (although there is a specimen in the collection of the Natural History Museum with a single presutural acrostichals present). Wing length: ♂ 6.4 - 6.5 - 6.6 mm (2); ♀ 6.9 mm (1).
