SUMMARY
Sometimes known as 'Timothy flies', the larvae, where known, feed in the flower heads of grasses and some (N. armillata and N. flavipes) are regarded as pests in agricultural grasslands of rye and Timothy grass, Phleum pratense (Smith, 1989[1]). Adults usually fly early in the year.
