SUMMARY
This is a large black species with a conspicuous silvery areas of dusting on the face around the lower margin and hind corner of the eye, another over the front coxa and a third on the sternopleuron above the mid coxa. The rest of the pleura are more lightly grey dusted, but when viewed from in front with the light behind, the whole face and side of the thorax looks white, contrasting strongly with the top of the thorax and abdomen which are all shining black. The strong bristle on the outside of the third antennal segment below the insertion of the arista is a distinctive feature. All femora and tibia black. Wings often yellow tinged towards the front margin and apex. Wing length: ♂ 6.4 - 6.7 - 7.1 mm (7); ♀ 5.9 - 6.9 - 7.8 mm (5).
